ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Diego is the founder of Fast Orbit Press, a community-based press, focused on empowering youth voices through fiction.
He is also an environmental advocate and writer originally from Austin, Texas. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability from Colorado State University, and a master’s degree in Global Environmental Policy from American University. Now based in Washington, D.C., he brings together his work in environmental policy with his passion for telling stories that imagine more just and sustainable futures.
Diego draws inspiration from his writing using real world experience to highlight the injustices of the climate crisis through fiction. He has done environmental justice focused work in Congress, the EPA, the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Indigenous Government, in university settings, and now with the Rachel Carson Council. Diego is also a 2021 National Udall Scholar.
